Heber/Snowflake

Friday, October 22, 2010 Me, David, Andrew, Sydney and Donovan drove up to Dewey and Dee's house in Heber. Steven, Angie and Spencer made it up there about 10 pm. We all got up around 6 am. Well, Steven and Dewey were the first ones up.

It was the funniest thing to see all of the carpenters plan and decide which way would be best (and safest) to put the trusses on Dewey's garage. Steven was the Foreman and he ended up on the top of the trusses all day.

The boys did discuss who had the best life insurance. :)

Dewey, Steven, Spencer (Ray), Donald, Mark, David and Andrew all started working on the roof. Brian and Steven Birtcher were on their way over from Snowflake.

While the boys worked, Me Donovan and Syd went to Annette's house for the day. It only takes 30 minutes from Dewey's front drive to Annette's driveway.......at 70-75 mph. :)

Sarah and Nicolee had soccer games. It was FREEZING.

I know, I know, bad pic, but if I didn't put bad pictures of me there wouldn't be any pictures at all. Annette is trying to show Donovan how to take our picture.

After the soccer game we went strait to lunch at Eva's Mexican restaurant. Nic, Syd, Sarah and Donovan are all waiting for food.

When we were all done with lunch, Annette went to practice her harp and we all went to the corn maze. It was to hard for me. In the maze were 6-7 different shapes to find. Once you found the shape you punched the card to take up to the finish line for a prize.
Donovan will never let me forget that we did not find the "star" even though the owner of the maze tried to help me find it. I stink at corn mazes.

I made Nicolee, Sarah, Donovan and Sydney take their pictures before starting the maze.

We spent about an 1 and 1/2 at the corn maze and still didn't find all the shapes. I took the girls back to Annette's house and Donovan took advantage of having the trampoline all to himself.

I made Donovan get back in the car with me to go back to Dewey's house to see the progress on the roof. I also had to get David and Andrew so we could go to Annette's concert.

Steven is here on the trusses.

Donald and Mark are lifting the sheets of plywood to Steven and Brian

Steven (Birtcher) and Andrew were lifting the sheets to Donald and Mark......Sorry Spencer I didn't get a picture of you helping but I know you did....

Steven and Brian on the almost finished West side of the roof. I think it was the west side. The other side didn't get finished today.

Andrew, Spencer, Steven and Donovan. All the boys had to come help their dads.

We all drove back to Annette's house for Annette and Rachel's concert.

David and Donovan stayed home. Annette was so nervous about playing her harp. Yes, and she was concert master too. The concert was really good.

This is how Donovan's day ended. He was trying to wait for all of us to come home. Donovan said, "Grandma Chelle, we did lots of things today."
This was a fun day.

Dewey's New Roof

On Saturday, October 23, 2010 Dewey invited some helpers to come and help put his new roof on. I thought it was freezing that day. I think the high was around 60 something.

The people helping with the roof were: Dewey, Donald, Mark, Steven (Ray), Spencer, Brian, Steven (Birtcher), David (Jackson) and Andrew. Hmmmm... all the dads brought their young sons to "help" out. I will post different pictures of that later. I was just trying to get a few on so others could see the fun time everyone had helping Dewey.

I will post another post later... I have to finish doing my homework and go to bed. Me, Sydney and Donovan went to visit Annette while the boys were working. I will share that later too.

Makynzi

Makynzi

This video was taken in August 2010.

What do you do when.....

What do you do when you are 18 and don't have a full time job?......Any thing your mama tells you!!

Andrew is currently "between" jobs and going to school full time. Andrew gets to do all the things that I can't do while I am at work. He is getting pretty good at dishes and laundry. Oh, and Grandma Ray has lots of "jobs" each morning in her garden for him.

The picture to the right is David's garden. The beans have grown over 6 feet up the trellis and sometime you see the plant sticking up past the trellis.

Merry Christmas in October to Michelle and David!!! 4 new trees: navel, Arizona sweet, lemon, and red ruby grapefruit. AND since Andrew is my hired hands these days he was the one who had the privilege to plant them. I have to admit, he did a great job.....and even cleaned up when he was done!

There is a little tiny tangelo tree in the corner. (My home depot tree.) The other trees I bought from Moon Valley Nursery. (They were a bargain!!)
I had Andrew take a picture by the trees so I could take another picture after his mission to see how much they have grown (if I haven't killed them) and how much Donovan will change.

Before I planted the trees I had to call Becca and ask her to measure how far apart her trees were in her back yard. She was such a nice sister she went outside with her measuring tape and told me 7 feet. My trees are planted just under that so I could fit all 4 across the back of my yard.
Oh, and by the way, people who don't have full time jobs at my house can't watch NetFicks or play Xbox until after 5pm when normal people are returning from work. I am so mean!!

Papa's Garden

Cumbers from Papa's garden. I can't seem to learn how to upload the pictures to they are in order. David finally has his square foot garden going again. We use to have 5 squares along the North fence, but they grew more grass then anything.
David used cement block to build his 12 x 4 foot garden. (One day I might do use block to fix my fence too.) Anyways......I like this garden because I can sit on the edge and watch David work.

Here is a better look at how the garden is divided into 1 x 1 foot squares. The idea is you plant certain plants in each square. When the plant is done producing, or dies, you pull it up and plant something else.

The string bean plants are growing up the trellis that is over 6 feet tall. David had melons growing along the back trellis but we ate the 2 little watermelons and now he started growing something else
David is excited about this garden and Donovan loves to go out with Papa and help him.

Trip to Conference???

September 30, 2010 we started out to Salt Lake City, Utah to go to General Conference. I think I was more excited to go get Nathan and Sarah from BYU and take them to lunch. We were also going to visit Amy, Rob and the Jackson boys and watch Sam's football game.

Well, 30 miles South of Flagstaff our car just stopped. (Later to find out the timing belt broke.) Sydney and Andrew are riding in the front of the car which is on the bed of the tow truck. It is the scariest feeling to be in the car strapped to the bed of the two truck. Sydney and Andrew thought it was the coolest thing.

Here is our car getting put on the back of the tow truck.

It was only like 9:00 pm when the car broke. I don't have a picture of Becca coming to rescue us. She started driving (to come pick us up) when I called her and got to Flagstaff around midnight. Becca, me, Andrew, and Sydney got into Becca's van and headed back home.
Thanks for rescuing us Becca!!! We got home around 3:00 am. David and the car stayed in Flagstaff in the parking lot of a car repair shop.

We looked at stars and I tried not to freak out with all the cars passing by.

This is the start of our trip when the children were happy.....they thought we were headed off to a grand adventure in Utah.....

End of the story..... so the story ends...David drives back from Flagstaff around 1:00 pm the next day. (October 1) Me and Sydney take Grandma Ray's car and go to Annette's house for the night. We watch the morning session of General Conference and then went to Nicolee's and Sarah's soccer game. Andrew just stayed home and played x-box.
And here is the rest of the story..........I can't tell that part of the story yet, I have to wait to see if Annette will ever let me come to her house again. :) (It has to do with hair bugs!!!)
Oh well, so much for my blog. The children learned some good lessons about disappointment and adapting to change.
Sorry to Nathan and Sarah, we missed coming and visiting you!!! I owe you both lunch.
Amy, Robert, and boys....Utah is very far..... I wonder if we will ever make it up to Xanadu.

Dogs and Kung Fu Fighting

Jessica's and Matt's dogs are here for a visit. They bark at everything and anything. Donovan would egg them on and keep them barking. The white poodle who looks like a rat is our dog Lilly. Lilly had to be shaved again today because SYDNEY didn't brush her good enough each day.

Really it was me. I just didn't want to tell the "dog" lady that I really didn't care if the dog is brushed every day or not.

October Ray Family Night

October Ray family night is pot luck after General Conference. I know this is suppose to be at Grandma Chelle's house but I wanted to print this out at the end of the year and have pictures of the family nights throughout the year. Besides, this is my blog and I will put anything I want on it. **Disclaimer**** if I spell your name wrong don't get all bent out of shape and go read Elder Bednar's talk. :)

Donovan Doras, however he was not at family night but I put his picture here anyhow. :)
Peter, Leia, and Arthur Rogers.

oops, Bonnie again. She is so fun to talk to.

Bonnie Rogers

Family Night was pot luck. Do you think there is enough food? You can't even see the 6 pumpkin pies that mom mad for dessert. From left to right going around the table is Dad, Rachel (Ray), Dan (Ray), Becky Ray, Lynn (walking), Becca Carroll, David Ray and ?

Jackson Carroll- this is a game that Jackson gets the girls to play on Sundays. You roll a ball back and forth to the person sitting across from you. The other players run across and try not to "touch" the ball. Jackson would play for hours.... but he only gets to play until the girls get bored.

Nicolee Birtcher, Macey Carroll, Sarah Birtcher, and posing is Sariah Ray, and Jackson Carroll

Natalie Carroll, Rachel Birtcher, Spencer Ray and Andrew Jackson- Computer room watching Youtube. (on Sunday???)

oops, I'm still learning

Sassy and Joshua Ray- TV room and cheetos what could be better?

Rachel Ray and Daniel Ray

Take 2- Camp out

Ok, so I am going to have DJ teach me how to make the pictures and the comments match....I should be doing homework but I am trying to post pictures. I wonder if Becca will blog the "bug" incident. That will be in about 2 more posts.

Donovan made a catapult- hmm... I think Grandma Chelle made the catapult- and he shot gummy bears at Andrew. He used the extra tape to modify his facial features.

The bow and arrow was bought at the Pine Festival- Grandson- anything he wants- Children (Andrew and Sydney) nothing.

Camp Lomia 2010- Ward Campout

September 25-26

Me, David, Andrew, Sydney and Donovan went to Camp Lomia for a camp out. We stayed at orchard camp. Everyone in my ward were shocked when they saw me walk up to the lodge. Everyone who knows me, knows I hate ward activities but I made an exception this time because I could take Donovan "camping" with running water and flushing toilets. :)
